Grampian Hospital Radio Celebrates Strong Start to 2026 with Record Quarter Listening Figures

Grampian Hospital Radio has announced an outstanding start to 2026, with Quarter 1 listening figures showing significant audience engagement across bedside broadcasting services.

The station recorded a remarkable 40,906 bedside listening hours during the first three months of the year, demonstrating the continuing importance of hospital radio to patients, staff, and visitors across the region.

Monthly bedside listening totals for Quarter 1 were:

  • January – 15,354 hours
  • February – 12,493 hours
  • March – 13,058 hours

Alongside the bedside service, Grampian Hospital Radio’s online platform also delivered encouraging results. The station achieved 10,898.2 online listening hours during Q1, with Quarter 2 already reaching 6,840.3 hours by 26 May, highlighting growing digital engagement from audiences both within and beyond the hospital community.

Early Quarter 2 figures for the bedside service are also promising, with April already recording 16,085 listening hours — exceeding any single month from Quarter 1.

Station representatives say the figures reflect the dedication of volunteers and the ongoing value of local radio companionship within healthcare settings. Programming continues to provide music, entertainment, requests, specialist shows, and community information designed to support patient wellbeing and reduce feelings of isolation.

The strong performance places Grampian Hospital Radio in a positive position as it moves further into 2026, with both bedside and online audiences continuing to grow.
